HELPFUL PRAYERS

Our Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy Kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and glory,
for ever and ever. Amen..

The Jesus Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Amen.

Thanksgiving
We bless you for our creation, preservation,
and all the blessings of this life;
but above all for your immeasurable love in the
redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ,
for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory.
And give us, we pray, such a sense of all your mercies
that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful,
and that we show forth your praise,
not only with our lips but in our lives,
by giving up ourselves to your service,
and by walking before you in holiness and
righteousness all our days;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Christian Unity
Heavenly Father,
whose Son our Lord Jesus Christ said to his apostles,
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you:
regard not our sins but the faith of your Church,
and grant it that peace and unity which is agreeable to your will;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Faith
Set me free, Lord, from faith and hope in lesser things.
Set me free from commitment to my own blue-prints for my own future.
Set me free for faith and hope in you.
Set me free for commitment to your plans for my future.
Set me free to live and work and serve, building your future.
Set me free, Lord, to be your person. Amen.

Forgiveness
Merciful Lord,
grant to your faithful people pardon and peace:
that we may be cleansed from all our sins
and serve you with a quiet mind;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Healing
Almighty and ever living God,
whose Son Jesus Christ healed the sick
and restored them to wholeness of life;
look with compassion on the anguish of the world,
and by your healing power make whole both men and nations;
through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,
who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Peace
Lord, make us instruments of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
where there is injury, let there be pardon;
where there is discord, ;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;
for your mercy and for your truth's sake. Amen.

Bereavement
O Lord, support us all the day long of this troublous
life, until the shades lengthen, and the evening comes,
and the busy word is hushed, the fever of life is over,
and our work is done. Then, Lord, in your mercy
grant us safe lodging, a holy rest, and peace at the
last; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Trust
Teach me, my God and king, in all things thee to see;
and what I do in anything to do it as for thee. Amen.

Diocesan Prayer

Lord of the Church set us on fire for you in this Diocese.
Claim our worship and wealth, our abilities and our time,
that we may be worthy stewards of all that you have given.
Save us from complacency and fear of new ways:
inspire us with vision; make us a power-house of prayer,
a community of loving service, and faithful witnesses to your Kingdom,
as we grow daily in and through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Grace
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with us all evermore. Amen.
