The Village Fete will take place on  Saturday,July 8th, starting at 2pm, slightly earlier than previous years. There will be all the usual fun happening, Bouncy Castle, Children’s entertainment and the Ukelele band and pony rides, to name just a few. There will be delicious Cream Teas served in the hall all afternoon and this years Grand Draw is promising to be extra special, with lots of wonderful prizes, donated from local businesses.All that’s needed is some fine weather and you!!.The Fete stalls will need to be put up on Friday evening, so if anyone can spare the time, any  offers of help would be most gratefully received. There will be someone special to open this years event and to find out who its is….please come to the Fete!

Caring Pippa Unwin is once again co-ordinating an appeal to help the refugees on the Greek island of Lesvos. People are still having to flee troubled parts of the world and the need for many items is still great.There are many worthy causes these days, but the aim is to fill a container with goods and send it to the people that need it, the problems are still there, they don’t go away, just different news stories take the focus from this human tragedy. The terrible fire in London at Grenfell Tower has been foremost in our thoughts since the terrible tragedy unfolded.Two friends from North Devon have set up  an appeal on Facebook to help victims of the fire and also rescue workers.Details are on the village facebook page, and can be accessed at Lloyds Bank.

Our Community Pool is now open again after last weeks technical problems.The filter is now fully repaired and back to full operational capacity.The part was acquired by Peter Smith and Harris Pools with only the minimal delay, just one day in fact!. Well done to all those  involved in getting this jewel in A.G,s crown back on track so quickly.

Its Jazz time again next Tuesday and this months musical guests are Fret and Fiddle, a vibrant and very popular gypsy swing band. The band consists of Andy Bole on guitar and the exciting violinist and vocalist Salene and three other musicians. Their influences are Stephan Grappelli, Django Reinhart and string influences of the 30’s and 40’s. Their repertoire covers gypsy and the hits of Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, Gershwin, and Hoagy Carmichael along with some of Grapellis more popular songs.All this is happening in the Jazz Cellar, lower bar at the Fisherman’s Rest, with the music starting at 7.30pm. The Early Bird menu is available from 6.30pm, but pre-booking is essential, the last orders being taken on Monday July 3rd.at 6pm.

St Andrews will have a Sunday Worship service at 11am on Sunday,Reader Michael Tagent will be leading.
