2018 Pool membership and resuscitation training sessions

The aim is to have the pool ready to open for the summer season on May 1st – everything is repaired and cleaned, the new pool cover and winder is in place, all the equipment and filtration gear has been serviced, and the temperature of the water is gradually rising. If we get good weather towards the end of April, it may go up by as much as 2C a day, and last year we managed to open the pool for use much earlier than past years at the beginning of May, so we hope to do the same this year too.

Membership for the pool relies on a valid type of resuscitation training or refresher for ALL keyholders. Only those with a current Health and Safety at Work certificate will not need to attend one of the courses put on by the Pool Committee – Please note that the forthcoming Heartstart course is not the one put on by the Parish Council for pool use, and will NOT qualify you for pool membership.

Five courses have been arranged to take place in the downstairs room at the Fisherman’s Rest, all from 7.00 – 8.30pm

  • Tuesday, 17th April
  • Tuesday, 24th April
  • Wednesday, 2nd May
  • Tuesday, 8th May
  • Tuesday, 15th May

The forms to sign up will be in the shop as usual – please read all the rules and conditions first, as all the information you should need is there, and there should be no need to contact Maya or Maria who are both really busy this year, and will be hard to contact.

There is one big change which the pool committee and parish council is very sorry to have to introduce. Regrettably this year there will be a £10 deposit on booking a place on a course (but deducted from your final membership payment at the end of your training session.) This has unfortunately become necessary because all these courses have to be paid for, but over all the last few years quite a number of the people who have signed up for them have cancelled at the last moment, or just haven’t turned up (even worse if there were several people at once), and too late for others who could have taken their places if only they’d known. As a result, you will see that if you don’t cancel in enough time for your place to be filled – 48 hours before the course – then the deposit will be forfeited.

Otherwise, all prices remain the same – Payment of £45 will buy Community Pool Membership, a pool key issued for 2018, resuscitation training for one person, and annual subscription to use the community pool out of school hours, and during the holidays for the season.

Additional adults in the same household can become Community Pool Members on payment of £5 each for resuscitation training.

An individual adult membership (over 18) membership is £25
