AGCC beat Modbury by 3 wickets last Sunday – match report

A devastating spell of leg spin bowling by Richard ‘King’ Cole (3 for 10) polished off the home sides batting in three overs, ably assisted by Wayne Kovacic (2 for 22)
Modbury batted first on a quintessential Summers day at Kingston and were indebted to Derek who carried his bat for a fine 53 not out in a total 134 for 8 off 35 overs, a wicket apiece for bowlers Hammett, Bissett & McMullan.
Chasing a modest total AG lost an early wicket but Botton (44) & debutant Scott Warren (34) stroked the ball beautifully & put on 80 runs for the second wicket, before there was a major stutter of three quick wickets, only for the Captain (33 n.o.) to quell the situation & bring home AG by 3 wickets, a truly enjoyable days cricket with excellent hospitality.
