The Fisherman’s Rest is a traditional village pub where the local people and friendly staff are always pleased to welcome new faces.
Situated by the river Avon we can offer beautiful views from our restaurant. We have both stream side seating and an attractive outside area under sails where alfresco eating and drinking on a warm day is idyllic.
Children are welcome at the Fisherman’s Rest, and adjacent to the stream is a large recreational area with football posts and plenty of space for them to enjoy themselves as well. The pub has its own parking area, and there is plenty of nearby overflow parking over the road, with a safe underpass to access the pub.
The Fisherman’s Rest has a bar area, a dining room and is currently in the process of updating it’s facilities. We offer meals, snacks, teas and coffees or cream teas, can cater for many dietary requirements, and will try to make individual changes to the menu if you wish. Our supplies are locally sourced within Devon where possible, and all our food is cooked to order. With 24 hours notice we can source most varieties of fish, sustainably caught where possible. Our bars serve real Devon ales supplied by Otter Brewery, and we can offer a good selection of wines from Christopher Piper Wines. Our facilities at the Fisherman’s Rest allow us to cater for large parties in the dining room, or for birthdays, christenings, weddings, funerals, anniversaries and charity events.
Our bar and dining room feature work by several local artists. Dogs are welcome in the bar area.
The Fisherman’s Rest is a welcome break for visitors to the village who have come to enjoy everything this area has to offer – the fabulous walks on our local footpaths or our beautiful estuary with its swans, egrets and many other species that make it a bird watchers haven. There is also a slipway in the nearby car park from which boats, canoes and paddle boards can be launched, and many of our visitors come to enjoy a welcome drink or something to eat after messing about on the river.
