Photographic competition

There is a photographic competition being held to try to capture the beauty of the natural world in and around the River Avon. Our Saltmarsh is fast becoming one of the most important habitats of its kind in the country and to celebrate this two of the organisations that monitor the Estuary and accept the stewardship of what happens to the water., The Aune Valley Water Ski Club and the Avon Estuary Forum are combining to run the photographic competition.A special website has now been created with comprehensive information on how to enter the competition: Photographs freeze a moment in time and its hoped to create a record of our river through the various seasons and events.The competition is open to everyone and entrants can have up to 4 entries, there are so many wonderful views and weather conditions to consider, the possibilities are endless really, with many different weather conditions every day, or even every hour! So get your competative mojo on and take even more photos than we do normally! The closing date for entries is 31st August 2019..

the first session will be at the Queen Elizabeth Pavillion at Modbury, starting at 4pm-5pm, on Sunday 10th March. The other sessions will take part all over the Modbury Benefice with the A.G meeting on the 17th March in church at the same time of 4-5pm.. The rest of the sessions are as follows; March 24th Bigbury Memorial Hall; April 7th Ringmore, WI Hall; and the final one at Kingston Reading Room on April 14th. All the meetings will be between 4-5pm.and everyone is welcome to attend.

This meeting will be an open meeting, with an invitation extended to everybody who would like to come along There will be a talk on Dementia by the Dementia Friends Charity, followed by a question and answer session afterwards, with refreshments served to all.

Local and Parish Elections

The annual parish meeting will be held at 7.30. There will be a brief monthly parish council meeting beforehand. All parishioners will be welcome to attend both events, The annual parish meeting is the time when all parishioners can find out what is happening in the village for our community facilities – eg the pool, the tennis club – and also hear the local crime figures in the parish for the year, and plans for the car show, and play park etc. A glass of wine or refreshments will be served to all attendees

Sound meditation

Nillage hall


Sounds to Silence the mind, a session to aid calm and relaxation. When the sounds of the Hang, hand drums, Gong, Singing bowls and chimes are used during meditation we are able to go beyond the chattering mind with the intention to achieve a blissful state. If you have a yoga mat, please bring it with you (some will be available) also anything to make yourself comfy, blanket, sheepskin. No need to book, just turn up and relax! By donation.

Aveton Gifford Summer Fete in aid of St Andrew’s Church held at the Rectory Lawns and Hall. Traditional Stalls and Grand Prize Draw, BBQ, Teas, Strawberries and Cream, Ice Creams, Children’s Entertainer, Pony Rides, Bouncy Castle and lots more! The Primary School joins in at this annual Church fete with some of their own stalls to raise money for school equipment..
