Church Fete, July 8th, 2pm, full details here

Come, preferably with a collection of friends and relations, and enjoy all the traditional fun of this ever popular village event .  Try your throwing skills on Hoopla, Coconut shy and the Tombola. Watch your little children as they enjoy a pony ride round the Rectory lawn or have their faces  painted. The slightly older boys and girls can buffet each other off the greasy pole, and Bat the Rat.

Visit and purchase everything from freshly baked cakes, garden and kitchen produce, the odd white elephant you have always wanted, a special book or CD or video, or purchase a lovely piece of local craft work.

And purchase you raffle tickets

Sit and watch the children’s entertainer Emmazdad , so popular in previous years, and leave with one of his delightful balloon animals. Poultry and water fowl will be on display round a pond beside a big red tractor.  The local Ukulele band will play at 3-0pm. Come and sing along.

And purchase some raffle tickets

The Project Group

The Aveton Gifford Project Group will be presenting a display of old photographs of all the houses in the Fore Street. Visitors will be invited and encouraged to tell or write down any remembrances they may have of folk who lived in them during their own time or previous times. Do come and share and learn about days gone by here in our village.

Should you require refreshment during all this entertainment there will be a Barbecue and an ice cream stand and of course Cream teas and cakes (all homemade) in the Memorial hall.

The catering team rely almost exclusively on the generosity of the bakers and cake makers in the parish for the spread of scones, cream teas and cakes, for which they and all the customers are most grateful. Please bring along any offering you may like to make for the teas on the Saturday morning or afternoon

Grand raffle

No village Fete could take place without a Grand Raffle. A truly tremendous variety of seriously high value prizes, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of which being hard cash.  Generous  vouchers from local restaurants and pubs, Tickets for Coast night club (over 18’s only) and Day tickets for Woodlands Playpark; and many others besides.

The Annual fete is the major fund raiser for St. Andrew’s so we look forward to seeing you and please dig deep into your pockets for you own entertainment and fun whilst helping to ensure that our parish church St.Andrew’s remains safe as a major focal point of our community.

If you are going to be anywhere on the afternoon of July 8th,  be in the Rectory garden Aveton Gifford

 Marquee Men.

May be not ‘Dad’s Army’ but an army of dads and big lads would be greatly appreciated, loyal volunteers to turn up at 6-0pm on the evening of Friday7th to erect the marquees, make up and set out tables and chairs on the stands, and to put around the straw bales as seating for visitors.

Come into the rectory garden dads, mums, big brothers and sisters,  for an hour of much appreciated labour and incidentally a lot of fun.
