Remember the date, Saturday July 12th; and the time, 2.30pm.
On this day St. Andrew’s Church Fete will take place in the Rectory Garden and the Memorial Hall and be opened by Dinah Ashton, entrepreneurial and popular custodian of the Aveton Gifford Community Shop.
There will be stalls selling everything, from cakes to Catherine Cookson books, and pretty things on the craft stall, to objects of no use to their previous owner but of potentially great use to you…. White Elephants! If you seek some better quality home and garden furniture or fittings, there will be a Homes and Garden Stall… together with Tombola and Hoop La and lots of fresh local produce. The Aveton Gifford Project Group will provide a display of photos of village history. All the stalls will be under cover.
There’ll be all the fun of the fair with a Coconut Shy, Greasy Pole, Pony Rides, Catch the Rat, a Children’s Tug o’ War and, last but not least, a Children’s Favourite Entertainer.
There’ll be plenty to eat and drink with a Barbecue Stand and Ice Cream Stall and, of course, the all important Teas and Cream Teas in the Hall, with loads of homemade scones and cakes.
There will be a monster Raffle with a most impressive list of prizes: first prize £60, second £40 and third £25 with many other valuable, useful and beautiful items. Tickets are already available. There is also the chance to win an annual subscription to Woodlands Family Theme Park in another game – a truly wonderful prize.
Saturday July 12th at 2.30, in the rectory garden.
Be there, if you are going to be anywhere that afternoon!
