Village Voice by Rosie Warrillow

This weekend sees the community here  in the Parish remember the fallen of the two world wars. St Andrews church will have the Act of Remembrance, which starts at the War Memorial at 10.45am on Sunday morning. The names of the fallen will be read by area RBL representative Mr Brian Yabsley and the service will be taken by Rev Matt Rowland, our team vicar. There will be a short service at the memorial and then the procession from the War memorial will enter the church.

Our bus shelter has been in for a lot of attention lately and now the Knit and Natter ladies have adorned the building with knitted poppies. They look bright and cheery and are a wonderful addition to our community for this special week. Well done ladies, they look wonderful!

Something else which is wonderful will be taking place in the village hall this Saturday lunchtime. It’s Soup and Puds weekend! The hard-working ladies of the community will be providing delicious home-made goodies for the amazing price of £5 per person. A choice of three lovely soups and hot steamy puds will be available from 12.30 pm-2 pm in the village hall. Children will pay £2.50 each and all the money raised will go to support our village hall.Come on down!

Our WI ladies will be meeting next Thursday, November 14th at 7.30 pm in the village hall. Their guests this month will be the wonderful Dartington Morris Men and they will be demonstrating some of the dances and giving the ladies a chance to try some out. Sounds like fun and not to be missed and guests can join in at £3 each on the night – why not come and try out the evening? The ladies would love to welcome some new members as numbers are getting low.

It’s a sad duty to inform those who do not already know, of the passing of Carol Hodder. Carol was for many years a stalwart of our WI, our church, and the farming community. Her funeral will be held in St Andrews today at 2 pm.
