Village Voice by Rosie Warrillow, 4th October

The Aveton Gifford Film Festival will be held tomorrow at 7.30 pm in the village hall. There will be teas and coffees available but the word is feel free to bring your own alcohol. This event really does help to fire the imagination and gives budding film makers the opportunity to express their artistic vent. The event aims to raise money for the hall and other village organisations.

There have been some major advances with John Foale’s proposed tractor marathon early next spring,. The tractor is now in the workshop and work has begun to transform this game old lady into the fighting machine necessary for the job in hand. The ‘Beast ‘ is being stripped down as we speak for the major works needed to prepare her for the journey. She is in the capable hands of our Mr Foale and his team of gallant helpers, it will be a long haul but these experienced workers know their way around agricultural machinery and I’m sure the job’s a good un! Mclaren have offered a supercar, similar to the one seen at AG during the Car Show in August, for part of the run leading to this amazing trip to being dubbed the Tortoise and the Hare run, and as I recall from that story, it didn’t end to well for the arrogant hare now did it? We will just have to wait and see who wins this one. Its all in aid of the Devon Air Ambulance to support the vital work of this wonderful organisation. At the launch of the project in August at the Car Show, the team raised over £650 for the Air Ambulance trust. There are more details on how to support John on the village website/webpage and there is also on John’s dedicated webpage www.foalevintagetractors.co.uk..
