Village Voice by Rosie Warrillow, 15th March

This Saturday, March 16^th our WI ladies will be holding their annual coffee morning. The event will start at 10.30am in the village hall, all the usual stalls will be there, white elephant, books, and of course the ever popular cake stall. All proceeds will go to the groups funds.                        

Our village shop will also be holding a coffee morming in aid of St Lukes Hospice later on in the month on Saturday March 30^th. If you have any items that you would like to donate please take your items to the shop before Friday March 29^th. Also is there anyone who would like to bake cakes  ,and biscuits to sell? Again contact the shop. Refreshments will be provided and the event will take place in the shop garden, weather permitting.   

Busy Parish Councillor Peter Smith has been making tremendous efforts to ensure our that our swimming pool will be open in early May. He has been hard at work painting , mending, paving, and generally tidying up the whole area over the winter. Well done to him, and thank you from all our potential swimmers! Refresher courses on lifesaving will be available soon, a  must for key holders, watch this space for details. Also Bantham Swoosh has once again agreed to help the pool by allowing sponsored swimmers to raise money for it.Last year six swimmers raised  over £3,000 to help with the costs of running the pool.                                                              

There are now two vacancies on the Parish Council following the resignations of Ian Stainton and Pippa Unwin. The Aveton Gifford History Group are putting on a display at the Cookworthy Museum in Kingsbridge, and they require some artifacts to display. Has anyone got either photos or perhaps a piece of shrapnel or anything that is linked to the damage that the village suffered during WW2? Maybe even some militaria , uniforms or medals presented to villagers? If so please contact either Pat Cassidy or Ros Brousson who would be delighted to see what you have got. 

St Andrews will have a Holy Communion Service starting at 11am with Rev Neil Barker leading            . Also this Sunday, there will be a Lent Course session starting at 4-5pm in the Church.
