The weather was kind last Sunday as the Parish paid it’s respects to the dead of the two World Wars. Rev Ollie Long, the Modbury Team curate led the proceedings by the War memorial as the villagers gathered. Wreaths were laid by the Parish Council Chair Mrs Sarah Harcus, the British Legion, Mr John Harcus and village Hall, Mrs R Warrillow. The school had also laid a wreath in their own ceremony. The names of the fallen were read by a RBL representative. The procession then moved into church, led by Churchwardens Mr Peter Fish and Mrs Nicola Smallridge. Inside the church the last post sounded and the two minute silence was observed. Hymns “I vow to thee my country”, “lord of Hopfullness” were sung and Rev Ollie gave his sermon. It was a lovely and moving service, and everyone stayed for a chat afterwards and some refreshments too.
