Village Voice by Rosie Warrillow, 17th January

Firstly apologies for not having a report last week but I had fallen foul of the AG flu bug that has been sweeping our community at the moment. Thanks to everyone for their best wishes and commiserations to all sufferers!.                                                                             

Our lovely friend Helen Phillips will be having another one of her Sound Meditations in the village hall on Sunday January 19^th at 5pm. Everyone is welcome to come and join in with this relaxation therapy. Bells and drums and singing gongs help to calm the mind and help meditation and achieve a blissful state. There is no charge (donation required), and if you have a yoga mat please bring this or a blanket/sheepskin; no booking needed just come and relax.                                                                                      

During the next week there will be some roadworks in  Four Mile lane by St Andrews church. This is to enable telecom works again and are due to last for this week. Please take care around this area.                                                                                                                                                                    Still got your Christmas tree? Thurlestone Golf Course are re-cycling them to help strengthen the sand dunes on Leasford Beach, a wonderful way to help the environment and a great way of re-using the trees.                    

We still have a problem with dog poo in certain areas, please, please pick up after your dogs, our churchyard, the green and the footpath by the A379 is no place to leave dog mess. There are poo bags provided by the Parish Council on the green by the play park and by the underpass.     

There will be a Burns Night celebration at the Fishermans Rest on Saturday January 25^th , and will feature a traditional Scottish menu plus a Grand Draw to help raise funds for John Foale’s great tractor run from John o Groats to Lands End. The team has recently supported Kingsbridge does Christmas and the ‘Beast’ is really looking the part now, she can be seen outside the pub most days. The blue paintwork is gleaming in the winter sun, a testament to the hard work put into her. The run takes place this year in May. Please phone the pub to book and for further information.      

St Andrews church will have a Holy Communion service with Rev Neil Barker which will start at the usual time of 11am, and everyone is welcome to come and join in.
