This week sees the start of the Art Trail in and around the South Hams area and there are some local artists taking part. It seems that its going to be the largest ever with more artists taking part over a wide area, so there’s bound to be something for everyone! Lucy Gunning will be displaying her work at North Upton Caravan Park off Bantham Cross, she paints lovely seacapes. In Kingsbridge in the Market Hall A.G artist Ellen Claire Williams will be displaying her work of local places with mixed media and oils. Kim Watkins will also be displaying her work, pictures made from recycled greetings cards, materials and greetings cards, always a joy to see how she crafts her work, amazing! There is one lone artist exhibiting in A.G and that’s printmaker Caroline Barker. Caroline works in linocut and makes paintings and greetings cards from her designs and she also makes handmade books! She also came to talk to our W.I group recently and they had a lovely time practising the print making! Stonecot will be open from 1-4pm on each day of the art trail. There are many venues around us including the Heathfield Down farmhouse which has recently become quite a force in the local art world. Avon Mill will be taking part ,displaying many art works in their gallery. The Art Trail booklet is now available from places like the library and Harbour House, an essential accompaniment to your journey.
