Village Voice by Rosie Warrillow, 1st November

The  last couple of  weeks have been a terrific success for our art community here in AG with the Arts Trail exhibits attracting so many visitors. Now alas, it’s over for another year, but I am sure we will look forward to the next year in this beautiful saga of hard work by our artists. Speaking of which – I hope that a picture will be published of our magnificent bus shelter, wonderfully painted by local artist John Ashton. The picture is of one of the egrets that live here in AG, John reportedly has names for them all, I wonder,  there are rather a lot of them, and methinks this may be a tale to keep the grandkids amused! The lovely picture now has permanent residence in the shelter, what a great creation to look at to while away the time waiting for a bus.

It’s oh dear time again, and I believe that we are due some roadworks again. Harraton Cross to Fishley is the intended target, on Sunday November 10th for up to five days, so be aware that speed restrictions will be in operation.

It doesn’t seem possible, but its jazz time again, next Tuesday at the Fishermans Rest lower bar. The music will be supplied by Chris Pearce’s the Sopranos, making a welcome return to the Jazz Cellar Club. The Band play some lovely traditional jazz mixed with some popular items , so why not come on down, guests are admitted £12 on the door. The early Bird menu can be pre ordered from the Fishermans Rest, there are three choices of mains and sweets, yummy, just what’s needed to set you up for the music.

There will be a coffee morning in aid of the Royal British Legion tomorrow, November 2nd starting at 10.30am in the Fishermans Rest. There will be all the usual stalls and a Grand Raffle. There will also be refreshments served and also some delicious home made cakes. Please come and support our RBL branch.

St Andrews will have a Sunday Worship service starting at 11am.
