At long last the weather is behaving more like it should do and we have had some warmth and sunshine this week and just in time for the first of three weddings due to take place in St Andrews this year! Local couple Lucy Smallridge and Richard Harris were married in our church last Saturday, much to the delight of a large contingent of family and friends.The church was packed and a hum of anticipation hung in the air as everyone waited for the bride’s arrival in church. She was fashionably late of course, and arrived in church to the strains of the Vincente Avella’s Bridal March, played by St Andrew’s resident organist, Mrs Vanda Irish. The family feel continued with the welcome, given by Rector Neil Barker and the first hymn was Lord of All Hopefulness. The first reading was from Colossians chapter 3 and was read by Chris Smallridge, and was followed by the Minister’s address and the modern hymn ‘Shine Jesus Shine’ was sung. The beautiful reading ‘You are the one’ by Chris Messick was read by Ben Smallridge, the prayers were led by Rev Barker and the final hymn was ‘We Pledge to One another’ . The choir sang during the signing of the register and the Bridal Party emerged from the Lady Chapel to thunderous applause from the congregation, not a dry eye in the house!! The happy couple then left for a reception at Ashford. Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Harris.                                                                                                                                                      
News from the shop now and Dinah wishes to say a mighty thank you to everyone who has donated plants to sell in the village shop, they have been very popular and if anyone has any more spare plants, then they would be more than welcome in the shop. This year’s dog show to raise funds for the shop will take place on Sunday 19th June and will start at 11am.on the Vicarage Lawn behind the village hall. Entry fees will be £2 per class and everyone is welcome to come and join in. Also the shop has Tony Porters new book now in stock, as well as his previous book,both are fascinating reads and well worth the time invested.
The Cricket Club have their first fixture this week, and are away to Harberton, the game starting at 6pm.  Their next fixture will also be away to Modbury, playing at Kingston at 2pm on the 29th. The fixture cards for this season are now available at the shop.
The community Pool is now nearing the stage when it will be ready to use and the hope is that everyone will be able to use it for longer this year. The poolside has been massively updated by Peter Smith and Tim Abrahall, who have worked extremely hard to complete the work in time for the pool to open – Â well done to you both. More info on when the pool will be open can be gained from Peter Javes, and please note that last years keys won’t fit this years’ locks!
It is with great sadness that I have to report the death of another great A.G character this week. Jocelyn Ponting sadly died last Thursday after a short illness. Jocelyn was an active member in our community, having had interests in just about all the major village organisations over the years, including the project group. Sincere condolences to Alick, David and their family.
