Village Voice by Rosie Warrillow, 21st December

Here we are and it’s nearly Christmas. And  we have impending road closure doom after the festive period. I’m writing this because we seem to have an illuminated sign sayiny that the A379 is closed at Modbury, well it isn’t until January 8th so please use Modbury for shopping as usual!! Poor place is suffering at the moment due to this crazy signing!!

There is concern in the village that there are two black V.W cars that seem to have been abandoned – if the owners are local can they please move them, or contact the parish council to say that they are legal? Otherwise steps could be taken to move them.

So we are into the Christmas season, and everything is gearimng up nicely for the big day. The Chrismas lights are on everywhere you look; one of my neighbours has a fantastic display, so many beautiful lights and decorations, amazing! St Andrews church held the all age Carol service last weekend and there will be a Holy Communion service on Christmas Eve at 11am, and a Holy Communion on Christmas Day also at 11am. All are welcome to attend There is no Midnight service in the church here this year.. On The 31st of December there will be a Team Service where thanks will be given to Michael Tagent who is retiring as Reader in the Benefice after 54 years of excellent service. The service will start at 10.30am for this occasison.

The Fishermans Rest is now full for Christmas meal bookings, but there will be another opportunity to eat there on New Years Eve with a special three course menu, please speak to them, or ring 550284 for more details.

Happy Christmas to everyone, see you in the New Year!!
