It seems that we are going to have improvements to the way our recycling is collected. SHDC will be making provision for collecting more acceptable items in our bag collections, like other plastics and glass.People’s opinions and ideas will be welcomed on a short online survey and the added bonus that everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a draw to win a guided tour of the Energy from Waste facility in Plymouth, a state of the art resource that uses non recyclable waste to produce heat and energy for buisneses in the local area. It’s Burns Night tonight at the Fisherman’s Rest and our friends have organised a typically themed truly Scottish night of fun to celebrate. A three course delight of Scotch Broth soup and a main of haggis neaps n tatties with delicious cloutie pudding to follow will truly tickle the taste buds and add to the highland atmosphere; please phone the pub to book on 550284 and indulge the Scot in you.!
Our shop has a number of new products for the new year including some new vegetarian options. The shop is also now selling take away coffee or there is an option to sit in the shop and relax and have your coffee or hot chocolate there. Caroline Barker is at Harbour House this week as Artist in Residence. Caroline makes books and linocuts, she also makes lovely cards and would be delighted to have visitors as she works in the gallery. The gallery is open between 10am-5pm,(but not open on Sundays.) .Harbour House will have an open exhibition in April, so now would be a good time to put on your thinking caps ready to explore the theme of Arrivals. Any one can enter and details can be obtained from the gallery.The closing date for entries is in March.
This week is has been Prayer for Christain Unity week and there was a wonderful service in the Family Church in Kingsbridge last Sunday, which included folk from many different denominations. The service was led by Rev Mike Jefferies, very popular here before his retirement. Rev Jackie Taylor led the intersessions, with the congregation joining in with the responses. The service was much very much enjoyed by the large congregation and refreshments were taken after the service. Thyis week St Andrews will have a Sunday Worship service with Reader Joyce Howitt leading, the service will start at the usual time of 11am, everyone is welcome to come and there will be refreshments served afterwards.
