Village Voice by Rosie Warrillow, 27th November

With the festive season just around the corner, I’m sure we are all thinking about our charitable causes. The Kingsbridge  Foodbank is extremely busy helping everyone it can during this challenging time. Funds can be raised for this and other charitable causes by simply shopping online. The Foodbank has a dedicated page on the Easyfundrasing organisation, its easy to do, just follow the on-screen instructions, and everytime you do your shopping the Foodbank recieves a donation, a simple and effective way to help. Donations can of course be recieved at their HQ in Kingsbridge in person., it’s located on the old Avon Farmers site on Wallingford Road.

If you have been invited to ‘host’ a sheep on the sheep trail please contact Caroline to accept the honour! Sheep are being made to use on the trail by a number of volunteers and these happy creatures will be adorning windows etc for the festive period. You can contact Caroline at Stonecot or at [email protected]

Christmas will look different in church this year due to the covid 19 restrictions. There will only be 40 places available for the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services. Places are available to book on the Mission Community website. People can book up to six places through the website and these will be available from December 1st 2020. The numbers are due to social distancing measures that will continue to be in place.

One pleasureable side effect of the pandemic is that more people are walking and cycling around our community. The Tidal Road and the country lanes are an ideal place to enjoy the scenery and enjoy the fresh air. It seems though that some people have been worried by the speed of passing vehicles recently, so this is an appeal for vehicles to slow down when approaching pedestrians, cyclists and of course horse riders. Its very concerning that conflicts are happening in this way with near misses being mentioned between cars and pedestrians. Please be mindful of other road users when enjoying our parish, thank you!!

Our Vicar is continuing with his online services which are available through the Mission Community website. Hopefully it won’t be long before we can enjoy worship together again soon.
