Village Voice by Rosie Warrillow, 28th June

We are looking forward this week to the next Jazz Club meeting when the Storyville Jass Band once again visit us from Holland. This popular band is returning to what they say is one of their favourite venues in this country, the Jazz Cellar in the Fisherman’s Rest. The band plays lively trad jazz and plays some favourites too. The band have played all over Europe and even America!!. All this and the lovely Early Bird menu available from 6pm on Jazz nights, please phone the pub as a booking is essential. The date to remember is July 2nd , 6pm for food and 7.30pm for the music, guests are welcome to come and enjoy the music , £12 on the door.

We have a number of boats that are moored on the foreshore apparently without owners being very much in attendance. The Parish Council has a policy of removing boats that aren’t owned, to keep our river safe and keep mooring space for local people. Do you have a boat that’s not registered with our Council? If you do can you please contact our clerk for more details on how to register, or remove the boat, before its removed! There are photos of theses unloved craft on the village website /facebook page for identifying purposes.

Oh dear, it seems that some folk are using the community pool out of hours and disturbing local residents. The opening times are during term time 5-9pm, weekends 10am-9pm. During the school holidays 9am-9pm weekends 10am-9pm. Please keep to these times, for the comfort of local residents.

Oh we again have the nuisance of fly-tipping by the recycling banks. Please don’t leave rubbish that won’t fit in the bins, it is an offence/. The lorry drivers cannot take loose rubbish, so please don’t leave it. Clothing banks are available in the Timbers car park, there’s no need to dump stuff.

The next Sound Meditation will be held in the hall this Sunday June 30th at 7-8.30pm. There will be bells, drums, gongs and singing bowls. The aim is to just be calm and relax and calm ones chattering mind. Everyone is welcome, please bring something to lie on, there’s no need to book , just turn up and enjoy this peaceful activity. Theres no charge, donations appreciated.

St Andrews will not have a service this week but there is a Team Service at Ringmore starting at 10.30am.Everyone is welcome to attend and there will be refreshments after the service.
