The congregation of St Andrews church had a busy time this week. The Harvest supper was held in the village hall on Friday with a lovely hog roast, and Chris Murray from Pennywell Farm came and gave a very interesting talk. Then on Sunday the church had a very busy harvest service with a childrens group and a baptism! Young Albert and his family were made very welcome by the church members, and the congregation joined in on the responses during the actual baptism. Lovely Albert was very well behaved as Rev Matt Rowland baptised him, no tears, bless him! There was also a childrens group with lots of youngsters enjoying their time in the Ladychapel, playing games and making some lovely drawings too. New curate Rev Ollie took the main part of the service and some lovely tradititional harvest hymns were sung and played beautifully by organist Irina. Everyone enjoyed coffee and biscuits after the service, what a lovely time for everyone. A collection of harvest goods was made during the service for Kingsbridge Foodbank, and the collection went to the Shekinah Mission in Plymouth.                                                                                                                                                                       Â
The October Parish Council meeting will take place on the Thursday 5th, the new councillors will be taking their seats for the first time and there will be all sorts of local news updates. The meeting starts at 7.30pm, the District and South Hams Councillors should be in attendance too. There have been some concerns over vehicles left in the parish apparently unattended for a while, if the owners are about can they move them? Parking is at a premium and broken cars take up valuable parking spots for resdents.
