It’s been an exciting time for AG resident Pippa Unwin recently. Pippa, local artist and sculptor, has travelled to the USA with her team of incredibly talented fellow sculptors again for the International Snow Sculpture Championships at Breckenridge, Colorado. The championships have been running now for 30 years and once again our intrepid carvers have acquitted themselves extremely well. Being one of sixteen teams from all over the world, our heroes chose to create a study in snow of two dogs greeting each other as only dogs could! The resulting carving brought a smile to the faces around, and most importantly a thoroughly well deserved second place in the championships. The team consisted of team captain Pippa, Mark Luscombe, Patrick Barker and Andy Clark. The team finished third last year and are very excited about going one better this year, well done Team GB, you’re awesome! Mexico gained first place for the second year in a row.
It’s been suggested to the village shop committee that it may be a nice idea to have a memorial bench for Peta Harper. The idea has been well supported in the community and a new picnic bench is the most popular choice. Peta did a lot to entertain and encourage families to use the shop garden, and she did a lot to help the youngsters in the village. To raise money for the bench, there is a donation box in the village shop.
There is a National photographic competition entitled Wonderful Villages and is open to all villages and village halls.
