We have some sad news to start with this week. Mr John Freeguard a long standing member of our farming community has passed away. John and his family have been faming at Pond Farm on the Tidal Road for generations and was famed for his love of wildlife and his countryman’s knowledge. He and his family are stalwart supporters of our church, and his funeral will take place at St Andrews church today at noon and will be conducted by Rev Neil Barker. Only close family will be allowed to attend, but the cortege will be traveling through the village at approximately 11.50am and its being suggested that perhaps people would like to line the route. I’m sure we will all be thinking about John and his family, his wife Margaret, son James and daughter Julia and send our condolences.                                                        Â
Free counselling is available to everyone over the age of 18 in our area, available through the Kingsbridge Community Hub. The Hub was due to open at 115 Fore St Kingsbridge, together with the Everybean cafe, a community cafe to help deal with social isolation issues, loneliness, anxiety and other mental health issues. As part of its funding from Devon County Council, there was provision for a councillor to be on site for three days a week. Due to current circumstances this councelling is now available online or on the phone- there are several contact numbers so I will just give one.
