Village Voice by Rosie Warrillow, 8th December

Our amazing young fundraiser Sam is still going strong on his pogo stick! He’s pogo-ing from his home in Wesley Terrace to school every day and had originally set himself a target of £250 to raise for Children in Need but with some terrific support from our community he has now raised an amazing total of £845, and he’s still continuing on his journey. Well done young man, brilliant stuff. Sam has a Just Giving page on Facebook which is still open for donations so come on lets go for the £1000, come on Sam, and so well done.

This year there will be another Greastest  Snowman programme shown on Channel 4 over the Christamas holiday period. As of going to press, Channel 4 hasn’t put forward when it’s on or who will be in it celebrities-wise yet. What has this to do with our community you may ask? Our dear friend  Pippa Unwin has been part of the team of professional sculptors  who have been in Austria filming the show! Pippa has taken part in a lot of snow carviing competitons and has had some amazing results over the years.

St Andrews Church will have a full programme over the Christamas period.   On Sunday December 18th there will be a Family Carol service starting at 4pm. The church will have a Holy Communion service on Christmas Eve starting at 9.30pm, and on Christmas Day there will be a Family Christmas  Praise service starting at 10am. On Sunday January 1st there will be a Team service held in the church with representatives from all of the churches in our Benefice present, which will start at 11am. Everyone is welcome to come and join in !

It’s definitly beginning to look a lot like Christamas, and the parade down Fore St had over 100 people joining in last Saturday evening with some lovely carol  singiing whilst journeying down to see the lighting of the Christmas Tree!
