Bantham Swoosh will take place tomorrow morning and over 800 swimmers will be gathering to embark on their journey from very early on in the day. Please exercise caution if you are out and about then as there will be busses turning and people in the road. This year as in previous years, there will be six sponsored swimmers taking part to raise money for the community pool and pre-school charities. They have a just giving page on Facebook if you wish to donate, this will be open for a couple of weeks after the event too.                                                                                 Â
There are still some boats that don’t have permits on the foreshore by the bridge, please if these are owned by anyone can they please be removed, some are not seaworthy and look unsightly on our beautiful river.         Â
It’s now only a few weeks until our local village show, there are all sorts of classes to enter, fruit and veg of course and also there are some arts and craft classes, including some especially for the youngsters in the parish or those who attend the school and pre-school. There are schedules in the latest Magpie and there are some available from our village shop too.
On July 13th the annual Church and Village Fete will be held on the Rectory Gardens. There will be all the favourite stalls including books, white elephant, cakes and of course pony rides for the children and some delicious cream teas in the hall. There will be games and of course the coconut shy will be in operation. This all adds up to a wonderful day out for the family. The church congregation would like to ask for some help in putting up the tents etc the night before, so any willing hands will be most welcome.        The school will be raising funds too with their own stalls on the day
Our WI ladies will have their monthly meeting next week on Thursday, July 11th at 7.30, this months subject is flower arranging and St Andrews church secretary Karen Rowse will be talking about flower arranging. The month’s competition will be making a small flower arrangement and of course the flower of the month too. The ladies will welcome guests on the door at £3 each. There will be refreshments afterwards and a chance to have a question and answer session.                                             Â
The swimming pool has generated a supply of large plastic bottles with screw tops, used for water purifier, once washed these useful items could be used for all sorts of things, more details on the village website/facebook pages, they are free to good homes!`Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
This week St Andrews will have a Sunday Worship service led by Andrew Williams,.the service starts at 11am, there will be coffee and biscuits served after the service.
