This week we start with a plea for a new shopkeeper. Is there someone out there who would like to work in our friendly community whilst running this essential service? Our shop is not only a place of business, but is also a valuable place to meet and chat too. Folk are friendly and grateful and willing to help. Does this sound like you? If so then please call into our shop for more details.
A former resident is remembered in a new book. Jo Ponting sadly passed away 2 years ago this week, but she did leave us with some wonderful stories about life on Grove Park Farm. Her stories were well written and well received by the readers of our mAGpie magazine, and now these charming stories have been collected together in this lovely new book. The proceeds will go to the Project Group of which Jo was a founding member just one of many village organisations which owe her a debt of gratitude. Jo is still missed by us all, but her stories will once again bring to life days gone by and in a much more gentle age. The book is available from the village shop.
It’s Film Festival again tomorrow night, and the event will start at 7.30pm with lots of locally made films made by the creative people of our village. There will I’m sure be a wide variety of films with many different subjects always a lovely evening. Tea and coffee will be served but any other beverages will have to be brought in!
The Parish Annual Meeting will take place on Monday with the usual Parish Council meeting taking place first at 6.30pm. the Annual Meeting will then take place afterwards with reports from all of the village organisations. Everyone is welcome so please come along and see what has been happening over the last 12 months.
The Community Swimming Pool has now opened and just in time for the glorious weather that we have had this week. If you wish to be a key holder, a place can be booked on the resuscitation course – a must for all key-holders.The forms can be obtained from the shop.
