Village Voice by Rosie Warrillow, 14th December

It seems that we have some sporting heroes in our midst! The members of Kingsbridge Park bowling club recently held their annual presentation lunch at the Cottage Hotel, during which President John Peckham, and secretary Tina Thomas presented the trophies to the deserving winners. In the men’s four wood, John Hall was the winner but local  A.G resident Ron Elson was the runner up. In the ladies two wood competition Ron’s wife Barbara won with Tina Thomas as runner up. In the men’s pairs Ron and partner John Peckham ran out winners, our neighbour also featured in the mixed pairs, running out winners with partner Anita Elliot. In the Millennium Cup Barbara Elson had a win and also Parish Chair John Yeabsley also featured in the competition, well done to all of our local winners!

Our shop has some delicious food treats ready to be ordered or just for purchase. Lovely locally made mince pies, fudge, preserves and beer are available, a nice gift idea, and gift boxes are also available with wrapping paper and Christmas wrapping paper are also available.      The deadline for orders for Christmas is this week, our shop manager Peta and her staff are waiting to help. A reminder that the shop can take orders for regular requirements all year round and of course the Post Office counter is now up and running all week once again, even on Saturday and Sunday.

Just a reminder that the regular quiz night at the pub will not be on the usual day but on Christmas Eve instead. Athenia and Mark will be hosting the event and are busy preparing  the quiz as we speak! Some delicious curries will be available too but booking is advisable so please ring the Fisherman’s Rest on 550284 for more  details.
