Wow!!! what great weather we had last weekend for the Church and Village Fete! Crowds of people arrived for the earlier than usual start of one of the biggest events of the calendar in A.G.. The warm sunshine encouraged folk to try their hand at all the activities, coconut shy, pony rides and rat whacking! The traditional stalls, white elephant, plant and craft stalls proved very popular too. There was great activity around the cake stall, with the lovely cakes and buns finding their forever homes in double quick time! The ukelele band entertained the crowds and Emmazdad, the children’s entertainer inspired the youngsters, with balloon animals and magic tricks. The ladies providing cream teas were kept very busy in the hall and Zoe wishes to thank everyone who helped on the day and those who baked cakes to sell.The total raised on Saturday was £2,339.00 for church funds.One apology from the chairman of the fete committee to the Project Group, for leaving them off the publicity and posters,your display was as always very interesting and drew many interested folk.
The village shop has an interesting new book available. Its entitled The Tidal Road Mystery and is a traditional whodunit type book and of course it is set locally. Its a good read and is on sale at the shop for   £6.99.
The Village show will take place on August 12th in the village hall. There are lots of interesting classes including a special junior section for the youngsters. Each class costs just 10p to enter,entries to be returned to the village shop by Thursday 10th August.
St Andrews held an open air service last Sunday in the large fete marquee; it was a Songs of Praise service with hymns and readings chosen by the congregation. There was a large congregation present, including a few visitors and the Banns were read for the second time for Paul and Clare’s wedding. This week, St Andrews has a Holy Communion service with Rural Dean, Rev Jackie Taylor, starting at 11am.
