This week is going to see the start of a difficult period for our village main street. Fore Street will be closed from Monday the 10th September until the end of October to allow superfast broadband to installed for the residents of Fore Street. The Parish Council decided at its meeting last week to open up the rectory gardens for parking as access to folk’s normal parking areas may be difficult or even impossible! An area at the end of the village green,(bonfire end) will also be available for people to park. For any further information, please consult the village website and facebook page.
Our W.I ladies had an interesting trip out last Sunday. As it was the hundred years anniversary of the suffrage movements fight to gain votes for women, the DFWI organised an event at Killerton House near Exeter. The ladies dressed up in period clothing and were treated to hear authentic speeches of the time performed by local actors, including 10 year old Amber who put on a stirring performance! The ladies enjoyed the day and will be looking forward to the next DFWI event.
It seems that A.G will have a really good assortment of artists getting ready for this years Art Trail event which takes place next month. There will be no fewer than 10 artists taking place, not bad for such a small village. Last years event saw several venues in the village including the Fisherman’s Rest, Stonecot and Claire’s Art Space. I’m sure that everyone will be looking forward to this year’s event with eager anticipation, more details will follow nearer the time.
A.G dog show will be taking place on Sunday 23rd September, starting at 11am on the Rectory Gardens behind the hall. There will be lots of different classes to enter, and all proceeds will go towards our shop building for important maintenance work. Everyone is welcome to come and join in, it promises to be a fun day for all involved! Schedules will be available soon from the shop.
St Andrews will have a Sung Communion Service on Sunday with Rev Matt Rowland, and there will be a talk from St Andrews mission partners Eric and Sandra Read about their work in the Phillipines. The service will start at the usual time of 11am, everyone is welcome to come and join in.
