Village Voice by Rosie Warrillow, 15th December

Its a shame but I do feel that I have to mention something rather unpleasant and to be honest, quite disgusting! Once again people are leaving their dog poo in our churchyard. Please stop doing it and pick up from your dog when walking through our churchyard, as there was a funeral last week and people had left dog poo and some in bags in the car park and on the grass, and members of the church were left to deal with this thoroughly disgusting nuisance. Kindly dispose of the waste by taking it away with you, Thank you. There have also been instances of half eaten food being left in the loo, and food wrappers left  discarded on the ground! There is no rubbish collection at the church and its down once again to church members to pick up after this material, please take you rubbish home.

St Andrews has a full programme of services this Christmas. Next Sunday Dec 17th is Family Carol service led by members of the church at 11am; Christmas Eve has a Carol Praise Service starting at 9pm, with Reader Michael Tagent; Christmas Day has a Family Holy Communion starting at 11am. Everyone is welcome to attend and why not bring friends and family with you, next Sunday will have mince pies and mulled wine after the   service!

This week is the last week for the ordering of Christmas Goodies in the village shop! Please drop into the shop for more details.  Also at the shop a new book by a local author  is now on sale –  The Adventures of Charlie and Lottie is written by Zoe Woodham and is illustrated by Jack Kirby and is set here in the Avon Valley and is a lovely story about introducing children to the South Hams Countryside. Its suitable for younger children and would perhaps make a lovely stocking filler present. This book is the latest in a long line  by local authors available in the  shop.

The quiz takes place at the Fisherman’s on December 21st and will have a distinctly Christmassy feel with the Grand Draw taking place. The evening will start at 7.30pm with the quiz itself starting at 8pm. There is still time to purchase draw tickets from the Fishermans. Knit and Knatter now takes place EVERY MONDAY at 10.30am in the pub, please take note of the day as it has been wrongly noted in the past. Looking forward to New Years Eve there are changes to the evening food arrangements, please check with our Fisherman’s friends for more details.
