We start this week’s report with yet more road works around the parish. This time it’s the turn of the Tidal Road, and South West Highways will be taking on the repair work for Devon County. The work will involve road closures between Feb 23rd-27th, for essential maintenance work on the carriageway. Patching work will take place on these dates but there may be alterations due to weather conditions.
I have heard that our shop has had an unfortunate incident this week. There has been a ‘Ring the changes’ scam which involves the fast changing of money, the perpetrator keeps requesting money to be changed, speedily changing his mind and confusing the shop assistant, and he then ends up with more change than he should have. In this case the shop lost £180 in notes changed in this way. The man who was responsible was said to have been short, overweight, with black hair. Were you in or around the shop at the time? (Last Friday) He chose a time when the shop was very full of people, making it easier for him to confuse the assistant. If you can help in any way call the Police on 101 . I’ts hard to believe that our little shop has been targeted in this way, people beware!
The Film Festival will take place on May 27th in the village hall, so now is the time to prepare your films, which can be of any subject and about 5mins long. The festival will get underway at  7.30pm.
This week St Andrew’s has a special service in celebration of Marriages and Christenings. The service will be led by myself and Karen Rowse, and will be an informal service with hymns chosen by the congregation. If you were married or christened in St Andrew’s recently, or maybe not so recently, please come and join us this Sunday at 11am. Staying with the church, this year’s Lent course has begun. It is entitled The Bible Course and explores the Bible over eight different sessions, taking a different topic each week. Everyone is welcome to join in, the sessions start at 7.30pm each Tuesday evening, and refreshments will be served during the evening.
I will be going on a trip to the Holy Land next week, and I would like to thank everyone who has donated exercise books, drawing supplies and stationary items for the trip to the school we shall visit while we are out there, thank you all so much for your generosity.
