Village Voice by Rosie Warrillow, 17th March

Our W.I ladies met just a little late for a festive lunch last week. Memories of that most special day of the year were evoked as the ladies were treated to a tasty two course lunch at the Fisherman’s Rest, with a varied menu and crackers on the table as they willingly tucked in. Our ladies meet on the second Thursday of each month and would welcome new members. There is always an interesting talk each month, and refreshments are served during the evening, the meetings are held in the village hall at 7.30pm,  and the ladies also go on outings during the year.

Dinah has a wonderful selection of Mother’s Day treats available to order from the shop; you can order scrummy mini cakes in either chocolate or Victoria sponge flavours which will be attractively gift wrapped for Mum’s special day on March 26th.  The shop also has a wide range of wine for the special Sunday lunch, and of course has a lovely selection of chocolates, cards and gift wrap.

Dinah has also been able to order some more of the wonderful cauliflowers from Bigbury, still wonderful value at 50p each.

The Fisherman’s Rest is going to experience the luck of the Irish this weekend with their St Patrick’s Day celebrations. Tonight there will be an All you can Eat Curry night featuring three different curries at £9 per person,, the evening will start at 7pm, please phone the pub on 550284 to book. Staying with the Fisherman’s, with Mother’s Day fast approaching why not treat your mum to lunch at the pub on that special day? Once again booking is advised to avoid disappointment. The menu has a number of sophisticated choices to keep mum happy, so come on down.

Oh dear, we have another missing cat! Lovely Gus has been missing for a few days now, he is a large tabby cat and lives in the house next to the school. Please can you check any out buildings, sheds, garages etc to make sure he’s not trapped somewhere. If you have any information or have seen him please ring 550634.

St Andrew’s has a Matins service this week led by Joy Windsor and Anne Fowler, starting at the usual time of 11am
