The South Hams Arts Forum Arts Trail has well and truly begun in our village. The wonderful total of ten artists are displaying their works at various different locations including the Fisherman’s Rest, 4 artists,landscapes and wildlife, photography,
17 Icy Park, 2 artists using vintage fabric collage,
Stonecot, 2 artists, using pottery and lincocut and paintings,
Art Space at Glebeland(top of Icy Park Hill,turn left!) I artist,coastal landscapes
and not forgetting Pippa Unwin, local stonemason and sculptor on the bridge as you come into A.G at Mewstone Masonery.
There is such a wide range of media and subjects this year, a real treat for art enthusiasts, come and enjoy the beautiful works and to socialise in our wonderful Parish!.
Staying with art, Harbour House has an Open Exhibition due to open next Wednesday which also has local interest with 2 budding artists exhibiting their work.
Our Neighbourhood Plan is taking shape, thanks to the steering group of our parish councillors. There will be a meeting in the village hall on Saturday October 27th from 10am-1pm and this is an open invitation for interested folk to come and talk to the Devon Rural Housing Enabler and ask questions on the future housing needs of our parish. The Affordable Housing enabler for the South Hams will also be present to answer any queries. This is an important development in our plan and it really does rely on what we as a community want and what we would like to see happen in the future. The Project Group will have a display in St Andrews church to mark the centenary of the end of WW1 during November. The names of the fallen will be given faces as some of the accounts relating to them are displayed with photos. The group had a wonderful display to mark the centenary of the beginning of the war in church and at the Fisherman’s, so this display is much anticipated this time around. Even after all this time, there are still people being identified as having lived and served from our parish, and being recognised for doing so. Our Project Group do such a good job at these events, and it will be good to have them in church once again; the display can be viewed during the day time hours, 8am-3.30pm.
St Andrews Act of Remembrance will be on Sunday 11th . Â at 10.45 at the War Memorial.
St Andrews will have a service of Morning Prayer this Sunday, starting at 11am with Reader Joyce Howitt leading. The Benefices senior Reader, Mr ,Michael Tagent recently celebrated 50 years in Ministry, congratulations to him and many thanks too Michael, for all the work you do here in St Andrews.
