The regular activities of our community have really got back into full swing after the Festive Break. Last Tuesday Kingsbridge Jazz at Aveton Gifford kicked off their first evenings entertainment of the new season with the wonderful Dart Valley Stompers. The Stompers are regular visitors to the club and play with a robust Traditional/ New Orleans style. They played a selection of favourites and I was lucky enough to have a song dedicated to me, wow that’s not happened before! Landlord Mark was also serenaded as the Club night just happened to fall on his birthday and enjoyed a rendition of Happy Birthday, robustly sung by everyone. The evening was well supported, with visitors coming from far and wide.  Guests are welcome and of course new members will be warmly welcomed, why not visit next month? The musical guests next month are the intriguingly named The Sopranos and the date to remember is February 7th.  Beforehand the Jazz folk can take advantage of the delicious Early Bird menu made available by the Fisherman’s for Jazz goers. The menu is available between 6-6.30pm on club nights and features a choice of three main dishes and sweets. Booking is essential and the deadline is 6pm on the Monday before Jazz night.
