Village Voice by Rosie Warrillow, 23 November

This year’s Christmas C raft Fair will take place at the Fisherman’s Rest on December 2nd  from 10.30am-3.30pm . There will be a variety of stalls displaying all sorts of ideas for all your Christmas decoration and present needs. Everyone is welcome to attend, refreshments are available.

The Festive Season here in A.G will also  start with the Children’s Craft afternoon starting in the village hall at 4.0pm on December 1st . The children will make decorations and try their hands at all sorts of different things to do. For more details please contact Caroline Barker at Stonecot.

They can then join the procession down Fore St, where carol singing will be the order of the day until the gathering reaches the Fisherman’s Rest where everyone will wait with baited breath for the Christmas Tree lights to be turned on. Once the tree is lit, there will be entertainment in the pub, with the Ukelele Band and the village choir, mulled wine and mince pies will be available, mmm. Something to look forward to and everyone is welcome to attend, just bring your best singing voices!

The village shop opening hours for Christmas have been announced: Christmas Eve 8.30am-12.30pm, Christmas Day closed all day.Boxing Day 9-11am , 27th -30th normal hours. The shop is also carrying a number of festive lines, and the order forms are now being dispatched throughout the parish.

There will be a job vacancy at the shop in the near future when Miriam leaves her post. If anyone is  interested, please call at the shop for more details. This years Christmas stamps are now available on our Post Office counter.

The WW1 exhibition is still on in St Andrews Church until the end of the month. This is really an excellent display by our Project Group and has some very interesting facts and photos about the village at the time and the lives of the soldiers are depicted in words and     pictures. The names and faces may well be familiar today, some families are still represented in the village population.

There has been a slight typo in the village magazine and St Andrews will have a Matins service this Sunday which will start at 11 am, led by myself, and Anne Fowler will give the talk; everyone is welcome to attend and there will be refreshments after the service.
