Village Voice by Rosie Warrillow, 24th August

Oh dear, it seems that the suspicious behaviour is continuing in and around the parish this week. There was an attempted break in at the village shop this week, the culprits were however interrupted, and they made off without gaining entry to the shop store room. If anyone has any information, please contact Peta or the police, as they already have details  of the people who were wandering around the village last week. The shop store suffered damage to the locks during the incident. There have been quite a few break ins around the area and folk are urged to make sure that properties are made secure.

The Classic Car show will be held on Bank Holiday Monday and it’s promising to be the best one in the events 11 year history, with the entries now closed due to demand! There has also been a huge response from stall holders wishing to set up on the day! There will be all sorts of classic cars, vans and bikes on display and delicious food and cream teas available too, so much to look forward to, all that’s needed is a fine day and some volunteers to man the gates and help with the raffle. If you wish to volunteer for just an hour during the day please contact Rick on rickclayton@gmail.com.. The proceeds will go to various children’s organisations in the village, including the pre-school, community pool..The show opens at 11.30am.

There will be a dog show a little later in the year to raise funds for our village shop, so keep September 23rd  free and spruce up your pooch for this important day. All dogs and their owners are welcome, the aim is to raise as much as possible for the maintenance of our shop building. Our retired shopkeeper Dinah has kindly agreed to organise the event and can be contacted there on a Wednesday, for more details.

Unfortunately, there has been reports of dog mess on the green again! Please, if your pooch is off his lead, can you be aware of what he’s doing and pick up any mess made. There is a serious health risk connected to dog mess and its not pleasant if trodden in. The problem is bad particularly near the kiddies play park, so please be vigilant and clean up!

Some cake tins which were borrowed at the church fete have still havn’t been returned, you must have eaten all the cake by now, so if you did borrow a tin to take produce home in could you please return them to the shop, thank you.

St Andrews will have a  Family Communion service with Rev Matt Rowland leading, which will start at 11am. Refreshments will be served after the service.
