This week has been so lovely, and as I am writing this, no sign of the promised cold weather! So, it’s into the garden we go, and tonight St Andrew’s Plant sale and coffee evening will take place in the village hall starting at 7pm. There will be so much more than just plants, with delicious cakes to buy,  also a white elephant stall and a book stall and a produce stall featuring locally grown veg etc. Come on down and join St Andrew’s congregation for lovely coffee and cakes, and of course a chance to chat and catch up with folk you may not have seen for a  while.
Continuing on the plant theme, there are still some lovely plants at the village shop, which have been donated by local folk. They are really good value and do help our shop, also if you have any spare plants to donate they will be very welcome.
It’s the first Tuesday of May next week and that means its Jazz Club night! This month the club are welcoming Kevin Grenfell and his Jazz Giants as musical guests. Kevin is a regular performer at the club and is always a very popular artist. He plays trombone and has a wonderful vocal talent. This time he brings a very special guest in the form of Pete Allen on reeds, another popular regular at the club. There is a five piece band in all, playing old standards and traditional songs that everyone will know. There will also be the Early Bird menu on at the pub, so that you can eat before the music starts, booking is essential though, the last booking date is Monday May 1st at   6pm.
The parish Annual Meeting will take place on Monday May 8th. The normal Parish Council meeting starts at 6.30pm with the Annual Meeting being directly afterwards. This is when the council hears about the village organisations and how they have been progressing through the year, always interesting to find out how they have all been doing.
There will be no service at St Andrews this week, there will be a Team Service at Bigbury starting at 10.30am.
