Village Voice by Rosie Warrillow, 8th June

There’s some exciting news on the fundraisng subject for our Community pool. Some kind souls are swimming the Bantham Swoosh to raise much needed funds to help with the upkeep of our pool. The pool is used by lots of folk in our parish and what a welcome facility during this hot weather! Pools are of course notoriously expensive to run and maintain, so please help our Swoosh warriors to raise more funds; they are Nick Antrobus,  Janine Wignall Daniel Woodhead, Robin Oliver, Hannah Durden. Please support them on justgiving.com and help our pool Thank You.

It is of course getting nearer to the date of our Church, School and Village Fete which will be held this year on July 14th, and will be opened by our new Vicar Rev. Matthew Rowland;   the day’s proceedings will start at 2pm. Everyone is welcome to attend, and this year our school will be involved and have stalls of their own to raise funds for the PTFA – this a new venture for this year and is being very much anticipated for both young and old. As with all of these things, they take a lot of organising, and running of the stalls, teas, etc is hard work. Can you help? Volunteers are always welcome, especially to help put up tents and stalls on the Friday night before. If you are interested in helping with this very popular event please contact me or Chairman Ray Lancaster for more details, or just turn up on the day, you will be deployed! Also there are tickets for the Grand Draw for sale –  if you would like some again contact me or buy some on the day. The prizes are stunning, and the church wishes to thank all the local businesses for donating again this year.

Our Cricket team has a few fixtures for this year, and the next on will be at home (on the Kingsbridge ground) on Tuesday 12th June when they will play the Entertainers, a touring side. More info please  guys, this game may have to be re-arranged if it clashes with a Kingsbridge match. Our gentlemen are experiencing difficulty in attracting players and are always on the look out for more. They are without a home field at the moment so they share with Kingsbridge for the home matches. If you would like to play for our white army please contact secretary Richard Bain on 078947119, or Jon Dickey on dickey-johnathon@yahoo.co.uk, your Cricket Club needs you!!!

St Andrews will have a Communion by Extension service with Reader Joyce Howitt on Sunday starting at 11am, all are welcome and there will be refreshments after the service.
