We are fast approaching Eastertide and St Andrews Church has the usual events taking place. This Sunday is Palm Sunday and there will be a parade from the Fisherman’s Rest starting at 10.30am and we are lucky enough to have a local donkey or 2 joining the congregation members walking through the village , to represent our Lords triumphal entry into Jeruselem. On Good Friday there will be another ‘Way of the Cross’ walk through the village, with various stops in the village to read and sing hymns. The Parade will again start at the Fisherman’s Rest at 10.30am with Michael Tagent leading the worship. Â There will also be Hot Cross buns and coffee afterwards in the Church. On Easter Sunday there will be a Family Communion Service starting at 11am. This will be the Rector Neil Barker’s last service as he is retiring on this day, and it’s a wonderful chance to say thank you to Rev Neil for his ministry in the Modbury Team over the last 12 years.
This weekend is also time to consider the future with another Neighbourhood Plan Consultation taking place in the village hall. The first meeting will take place this evening between 6-9pm and the second one is tomorrow starting at 10am-1pm. There will be refreshments and a chance to talk to Parish Councillors and to state your views. There will also be an opportunity to veiw a potential plan for a new village hall, with members of the hall committee being present to answer any questions.
Our community pool will soon be open and now is a good time to consider signing up for a resuscitation course, a must for potential key holders. The courses will take place in the Fisherman’s on April 25 and May 4th,9th,and 11th. Â You can sign up at the village shop and gain more information on the village website, or on the new pool webpage where all news relating to the pool can be found.
