Last Friday the Parish Councillors held a meeting with South West Water to discuss the continuing problems of raw sewerage flooding Jubilee Street when there is severe rainfall. Local M.P Gary Streeter also attended the meeting to lend his support. This distressing problem for the residents has been going on now for some time, and S.W.W has promised now to investigate the possibility of separating the rainwater from the sewerage so alleviating the problem. SWW will be talking to residents in the near future, to assess how this move will affect the way run off water will be taken from houses.
The start of the installation of Traffic Calming measures in the village has now been delayed until the start of the Easter holiday. This is due to a deadline for submitting the plans being received late. These measures have been discussed at many Parish Council meetings over the years and the final decision is to put a larger Table Top style cushion outside the school with smaller cushions in the village street. There will be double yellow lines at Icy Park corner to alleviate the traffic flow problems that occur there due to vehicles parked on the roadside.
