If you have a boat on the river take care! Now that the nights are getting longer thefts from the river have started up again. A red 20 litre fuel tank, containing 10 litres of fuel was taken in the middle of October, and since then a Canadian style canoe has been stolen, and a number of other things including tools, sails and electrical equipment have been taken from one of the catamarans with quite a lot of damage to the boat itself. It doesn’t seem to matter whether the boats are on the foreshore or out on the river, as apparently the thieves borrow a dinghy to get out to the deeper moorings. If you see anything suspicious, day or night, please phone the police.
