Really good news that the long-awaited work to finally sort out this stretch of the road. Commuters who use the A379 in and out of Plymouth need to know that road works will be ongoing here in January, and that will undoubtedly affect their journeys. Our County Councillor, Rufus Gilbert, has been able now to send us this update;

Devon County Council has “recently awarded this repair works to South West Highways, who are aiming to take control of the site on Monday 4th January.  The main works are programmed to start on Monday 11th January and be completed by Friday 9th April 2021.

Night time closures (19:00 to 06:30) are planned from Monday 18th January for approximately 6 weeks.  These dates are subject to change depending upon how the site works progress.  The night time closures are required install steel sheet piles and anchors as the machinery is too large to operate in a single carriageway.  It is also too risky to undertake these operations adjacent to live traffic.”
